No Surprises Act

No Surpises Act

The “No Surprises Act” (NSA) is a federal law that protects patients from a surprise balance bill for certain medical services not covered by their insurance. The lab testing ordered by your physician may be considered out-of-network, unknown to you, and the NSA protects you from a potentially large out-of-pocket expense.

Under the No Surprises Act, patients may request a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of expected charges for ClearNote services.

This good faith estimate shows the costs of ClearNote services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs. The estimate is based on information known to ClearNote at the time the estimate was created.

Find out more by reviewing the No Surprises Act rules.

How ClearNote Health Protects You:

Patients with commercial insurance (non-Medicare or Medicaid)

A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) can be requested at any time and clearly states your maximum out-of-pocket expense should your insurance consider the Avantect® test as non-covered or out-of-network. Please contact us at (866) 414-0070 to request a GFE or discuss options for financial assistance.

Patients who do not have insurance:

ClearNote Health will send a GFE automatically if you do not have insurance. The Good Faith Estimate (GFE) clearly states your maximum out-of-pocket expense prior to the service being provided. You will have the option to either cancel the service or determine if you are eligible for financial assistance. Please contact us at (866) 414-0070 if you did not receive a GFE or discuss options for financial assistance.

Important information

The Avantect Pancreatic Cancer Test is an early detection test. The test does not establish a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, and results should be considered in the context of other clinical criteria. Definitive diagnosis of pancreatic cancer usually requires a series of imaging scans, blood tests, and a biopsy. Not all pancreatic cancers will be detected. Some patients with pancreatic cancer may have a “Signal not detected” result. Some patients without pancreatic cancer may have a “Signal detected” result. False-negative and false-positive results are possible. A “Signal not detected” result does not guarantee that no pancreatic cancer is present. In some cases, no result is obtained. While this is very uncommon, it may be caused by shipping delays or when there is not enough cell-free DNA for the test in the patient’s blood. If this happens, we generally ask for a repeat blood sample for testing at no extra cost.

The test was developed in the ClearNote Health CLIA-certified (CLIA# 05D2249973) and CAP-accredited (CAP# 9219174) laboratory and has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
